Herd Mentality

Do not give the best answer. Give the popular one.

Herd Mentality removes the pressure of knowing a correct answer. Everyone predicts what the room will say, making it easy for a large team to join and surprisingly revealing when colleagues disagree.

How to play

Give the table a clear rhythm.

Use this as a quick first-game guide, then keep the official rules close for edge cases and exact details.

  1. Read one question

The question reader draws a card and reads one prompt aloud. These ask for an opinion or example rather than a factual answer.

  2. Predict the room

Everyone secretly writes the answer they believe most other players will also choose. Personal preference matters less than matching the group.

  3. Reveal together

Show every answer, group answers that clearly mean the same thing and identify the largest matching group.

  4. Reward the herd

Every player in the majority earns a cow token. If exactly one player stands alone, that player takes the Pink Cow.

  5. Reach eight without the Pink Cow

The first player to collect eight cow tokens wins—but a player holding the Pink Cow cannot win until somebody else takes it.

Before the first turn

Set up for a smooth start.

  • Give every player something to write with and enough answer space.
  • Place cow tokens and the Pink Cow in the centre of the table.
  • Agree that equivalent answers count together when the wording differs.
  • Remove any question that feels too personal for the workplace.

Make it a season

Give the whole office an easy shared ritual.

Record each match winner and the final cow totals. Large groups can play in short weekly rounds, with one season point awarded for every match win.
