Cookie Policy

What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. They can be essential (needed for the site to work) or non-essential (analytics, advertising, personalisation). Websites can also keep data in your browser's own storage, which works in a similar way.
The cookies we use
SitomoPlay sets two cookies, both in the app (under /app) and only when you sign in:

The marketing pages (everything outside /app) set no cookies of their own.
Storage on your device
- Pools without an account — if you join a pool without an account, SitomoPlay keeps a small entry in your browser's local storage (
sitomoplay.guestPools): the pool's identifier and name, and a random secret that proves to our server that the guesses in that pool are yours. It isn't a cookie, is never sent anywhere except to SitomoPlay with requests about that pool, and isn't used for tracking. It's strictly necessary for playing without an account — without it you couldn't change your guesses. It stays until you leave the pool or clear your browser's site data. - The app's files — so the app opens quickly, works when installed on your phone and can update itself, it keeps copies of its own program files (code, styles, icons) in your browser's cache. These hold no personal data.
Payment pages
The pricing page and a championship's Plan and billing page load Paddle.js from Paddle, our reseller and payment provider, to show prices in your currency and to run the checkout. Paddle and its checkout may set their own cookies or use similar storage that is needed to process a payment and prevent fraud; these are covered by Paddle'sprivacy policy. No other page loads Paddle.
What we don't use
- No analytics or measurement cookies
- No advertising, remarketing or social media tracking
- No third-party cookies outside the payment pages above
- No local or session storage used for tracking
- No third-party font services: our fonts are served from our own site
Outbound links, such as to our social media pages, are ordinary links and do not set cookies on our site.
Consent
The cookies we use, the device storage above and Paddle's payment cookies are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested (staying logged in, playing in a pool without an account, using the app, or paying for a plan). Under EU ePrivacy rules and equivalent laws, strictly necessary storage does not require consent, so SitomoPlay does not show a cookie banner. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
Infrastructure cookies
Our hosting and security providers (Microsoft Azure, and any content-delivery or bot-protection layer we add) may set their own strictly necessary cookies for load balancing or security. These are not used for tracking.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block the cookies above you will not be able to sign in to SitomoPlay, and clearing site data removes any pools you joined without an account from that browser.
