Board game guide
Dixit
Tell a clue that lands in the middle.
Dixit turns illustrated cards into a test of shared imagination. The storyteller wants to be understood—but not by everyone—while the rest of the table uses the same clue to hide convincing alternatives.

How to play
Give the table a clear rhythm.
Use this as a quick first-game guide, then keep the official rules close for edge cases and exact details.
Give a clue
The storyteller secretly chooses one image card from their hand and says a word, phrase, sound or other clue inspired by it.
Submit matching images
Every other player secretly gives the storyteller one card that could also fit the clue.
Shuffle and reveal
The storyteller mixes all submitted cards, then places them face up in numbered positions so no one knows who played which image.
Vote for the storyteller’s card
Everyone except the storyteller secretly votes for the image they believe inspired the clue. Players may not vote for their own card.
Score and refill
The storyteller scores when some—but not all—players find the right image. Guessers score for finding it, and decoy owners gain a bonus for each vote their card attracts.
Before the first turn
Set up for a smooth start.
- Give every player six image cards and a matching voting piece or dial.
- Place each player’s rabbit or marker on the start of the score track.
- Agree that clues may be words, phrases, lyrics, sounds or gestures.
- Keep submitted cards face down until the storyteller has collected all of them.
Make it a season
Let each story carry into the next session.
Record final points and placement, then celebrate the clue that drew the most divided vote. Rotate the opening storyteller so every game begins with a different imagination.
