Party challenge guide
Two truths and a lie
Three stories. One careful invention.
Two truths and a lie works best when the room is curious rather than interrogative. Short turns uncover unexpected stories, while a simple guessing score gives familiar groups a playful challenge.

How to play
Give the table a clear rhythm.
Use this as a quick first-game guide, then keep the official rules close for edge cases and exact details.
Write three statements
Each player prepares two true statements and one invented statement about themselves, keeping the order secret.
Share all three calmly
The active player reads the statements in any order without signalling which one is different.
Allow brief questions
The group may ask a small, fixed number of follow-up questions. The storyteller answers while protecting the lie.
Vote at the same time
Everyone locks in a choice before any answer is revealed so later voters cannot follow the room.
Reveal and score
The storyteller identifies the lie and may tell the real story behind a truth. Award guessing and bluffing points, then rotate.
Before the first turn
Set up for a smooth start.
- Give everyone a few quiet minutes to prepare.
- Keep statements suitable for the group and the occasion.
- Set a question limit and turn length.
- Provide private voting cards or numbered fingers.
Make it a season
Reward both readers and storytellers.
Give one point for spotting a lie and one bluff point when most of the room guesses incorrectly. The balance keeps every turn competitive without overpowering the conversation.
