Party challenge guide

Team trivia

Give the whole room a reason to confer.

Team trivia works when knowledge is distributed across the table. Varied categories, confident pacing and a few questions made for this particular group turn a quiz into a shared event.

How to play

Give the table a clear rhythm.

Use this as a quick first-game guide, then keep the official rules close for edge cases and exact details.

  1. Create balanced teams

Mix ages, interests and friendship groups where possible. Give each team one clear answer sheet or submission device.

  2. Explain the round

State the category, number of questions, answer time and point value before asking the first question.

  3. Read every question twice

Keep the wording visible when practical and allow a fixed discussion window before answers are locked.

  4. Reveal and score

Give the accepted answer, add a short explanation when useful and update the public score after each round.

  5. Finish with a decision

Use a final question with a declared point value or wager, then resolve any tie with a closest-answer question.

Before the first turn

Set up for a smooth start.

  • Write and fact-check a varied set of questions.
  • Prepare answer sheets, pens and an accessible display.
  • Decide accepted variants and tie rules in advance.
  • Include a few questions connected to the guests or occasion.

Make it a season

Give each round its own comeback.

Record round scores as well as the final total. Small category wins create more stories and keep teams invested when the overall lead grows.
