Party challenge guide

Drawing relay

Draw fast. Pass the marker.

A relay removes the pressure of being the group’s artist. Everyone contributes one quick sketch, every correct guess moves the team forward and imperfect drawings become part of the story.

How to play

Give the table a clear rhythm.

Use this as a quick first-game guide, then keep the official rules close for edge cases and exact details.

  1. Line up the teams

Give each team a drawing surface and marker. Put players in a fixed artist order before the first prompt.

  2. Show the prompt

One artist from each team privately reads the same prompt while teammates face away from the host.

  3. Start every artist together

Artists draw without letters, numbers or gestures. Their teams may guess continuously during the timed round.

  4. Pass the marker

As soon as a team solves its prompt, the next artist steps in and receives a new prompt from the host.

  5. Close the relay fairly

Stop when time ends or one team completes the set. Count solved prompts, then rotate starting positions for the next round.

Before the first turn

Set up for a smooth start.

  • Prepare matching prompt sets for every team.
  • Give each team an equal drawing area and working marker.
  • Set the relay duration and artist order.
  • Keep answer cards hidden beside the host.

Make it a season

Reward speed without sidelining anyone.

Count every solved prompt and add a completion bonus only when all players have drawn. That keeps the relay focused on team participation rather than one star artist.
