Texas Hold'em

Two private cards, five shared cards and a table that gets louder with every reveal. Hold'em is the easiest poker night to introduce and the hardest one to outgrow.

How to play

A clear rhythm for every hand.

Agree the stakes and house rules before the first deal. Once play begins, these are the moments everyone needs to follow.

  1. Post the blinds and deal

The two players left of the dealer button post the small and big blind. Everyone receives two private cards.

  2. Play pre-flop

Starting left of the big blind, each player folds, calls or raises. The round ends when every active player has matched the current bet.

  3. Reveal the flop

Deal three community cards face up. A new betting round begins with the first active player left of the dealer.

  4. Deal the turn and river

Reveal one more community card, bet, then reveal the fifth and final community card and bet again.

  5. Settle the hand

Any players still active show their cards. The best five-card poker hand wins; a player may use any combination of private and community cards.

Before the first hand

Set the table once.

  • Use one standard 52-card deck, a dealer button and enough chips for every player.
  • Choose a starting stack, opening blind level and blind schedule before anyone sits down.
  • Agree whether rebuys are allowed, when they close and whether late arrivals can enter.
  • Keep a simple hand-ranking reference visible for first-time players.

Make it a season

Let the final table shape the season.

Record the finishing order after each tournament. SitomoPlay can preserve placements, buy-ins and rebuys while season points reward the players who keep making deep runs.
